Waiting and hoping

In the hospital the man wanders around the ward. Confused by illness he wants only to go home. Around him he sees not the beds and bars of the hospital, but heather and heath of the island where once he worked in his youth, through a hot summer, building walls, reshaping a cow shed. And with him are all the cats that have ever shared his days and his life.
Next door the house waits, patient, but with each day it looks a little sadder. If a house can have a heart, a soul, the soul of this one has been taken away.
At night no light shines from the window through patterned curtains. In the morning no glow disturbs the late twilight of diminishing dark. There is no sound of muffled radio voices, just silence, stillness and waiting as if the house itself is holding its breath.

Praying the house's man recovers and is back where he belongs, soon.

I hope the house is filled with life and cats again very soon.

Sending all my strongest wishes that Glyn and his wonderful house are soon reunited - it is heartbreaking to be old and ill and not in one's home.

Please tell him that we hope a full recovery will soon be his!

I hope Glyn can come home to Nadolig and his house soon. This is such a sadly familiar story.

We send him and Nadolig rumbly purrs and love

There is such sadness in becoming ill and elderly. Sometimes being in hospital for skilled nursing is necessary, but it brings a burden of confusion. I hope that Mr. Griffiths can return home to his cottage and his cat and end his days there.

Prayers for Mr Griffiths recovery and return home soon, maybe with someone who can look after him. He will be much happier at home than in hospital.

Care for him at home ought to be organised. If he is unhappy and confused he is unlikely to want to go on living. The doctors ought to know that. It's what health visitors are for.

I hope that he will get what he thinks he needs and not what others think is good for him.
